It is estimated that 40% of all Americans have ancestors who passed through Ellis Island in New York Harbor, where they were examined, documented, and deemed fit for entry. This web Quest is designed to help you appreciate the immigrant experience, beginning in the far away lands of Europe and Asia, passing through Ellis Island or Angel Island and continuing to meet the challenges that awaited them in America.
